Hummingbird Summer

Hummingbird Summer

In hummingbird summer

Lavender, pink and red flowers

Scent summer breezes

Butterflies, monarchs and red admirals

Unroll their spiral tongues to sip

Sweet nectar.

Bumble bees hum and fumble

Into flowers and emerge coated with pollen

While  a catbird sings in tongues

And a wren trill his joy into blue air.
